This post was inspired by Reverb11.  The purpose of Reverb11 is to reflect on the past year and usher in the new year with intention.  Each day in December 2011 brings a new prompt to reflect on.

This little musing was inspired by following prompt, as posted on http://www.abeautifulrippleeffect.com/reverb11/ :  Beauty – How have your standards of beauty shifted in the past year?

Do you like my dress?

Do you think my writing is beautiful?

Do you love my point of view?

Beauty is such a personal assessment.

I might love what you hate.

And you might hate what I adore.

So I don’t need you to tell me I’m beautiful.

Or that you like my dress.

Or that you adore my writing.

Or that you love my point of view.

When you don’t really mean it.

Because I know that beauty is such a personal assessment.

Now don’t get me wrong.

I love it when you tell me that you like my dress.

Or that you adore my writing.

Or that you love my point of view.

I would love to hug you and give you a kiss on the cheek.

But I I know that beauty is such a personal assessment.

So I appreciate it when you tell me that you prefer another style.

Or that you love someone else’s writing better than mine.

Or that you have another point of view.

I would love to dive in and explore what is beautiful to you.

Because I don’t use your words to feel bad about myself.

I know that your truth might not be mine.

I know that my truth might not be yours.

And that is beautiful.
