We’ve all got them. 

These lists. 

These lists of things we want to have.  

These lists of things that will make us feel happy, confident, competent, outgoing, enthusiastic, decisive, …. 

There is only one tiny detail. 

We believe we can only feel that way if and when we get these things.  We think we have to wait for these things to appear in our lives in order for us to be happy.  We believe that if and when we get these things, we will feel happy, confident, competent, outgoing, enthusiastic, decisive, …

And then we get the things we were wanting.

And then we discover that these things don’t really bring us the everlasting happiness we were expecting them to bring. 

And then we feel disappointed.  Stuck.  Mad.  Sad.

And then we pick ourselves up and work on our new list of things  that will bring us the happiness we are longing for.

What if we got it backwards? 

What if we would bring the feelings we are longing for into our life right now? 

What if we would bring the person we want to be into our life right now?  What if we would connect with what the person we want to be, would do right now?  What if we would do those things?  Right now?

What if doing exactly that would make us feel happy, confident, competent, outgoing, enthusiastic, decisive, …?
