So many times we take so many things for granted.
The sunshine that falls through the window in the morning.
That good book.
The smell of coffee.
That thoughtful conversation with a friend.
The rain against the window.
That refreshing shower after that hike.
Our feet carrying us around.
That dazzling dress.
The beautiful song on the radio.
That moment of silence.
And then something happens that wakes us up, shakes us up.
We think of how fragile and precious our lives are.
We commit to appreciate life more – the little things and the big things.
We vow to do what makes our heart sing and soul soar.
We’ll stop wasting time.
We’ll eat healthy foods and put on our running shoes.
We’ll make time to hang out with friends.
We’ll start writing that book.
We’ll get rid of all the clutter that’s just distracting us.
We’ll say no to things that no longer fit.
We’ll be more generous.
We’ll make time for a nap.
We’ll uncork that bottle of wine – just because.
We’ll honor our dreams – now we’re really gonna go for it, now we’re really gonna make it happen!
We’ll dance in the rain – and don’t give a damn about what others might think.
We’ll stumble and fall – but we won’t care because we’re so ready to grow and expand.
We’ll be loud and still.
We’ll work hard and rest hard.
We’ll be focused and open.
We’ll play, discover, taste, experiment.
We’ll laugh, love, hug, kiss.
We’ll listen, talk, watch and let ourselves be seen.
We’ll be doing our thing. Naturally.
We’ll be who we are. Fully.
absorbed by day to day expectations and routines,
sidetracked by to do’s and have to’s,
overwhelmed by too busy and no time,
deflated by too hard and impossible,
deceived by tomorrow and later.
Till something happens that wakes us up, shakes us up.
Don’t wait for it to happen.
Right here, right now.
We’ve all got just one.
Live it to the fullest.
