Sometimes we think we need to agree with them.
Have the same opinion.
Appreciate the same things.
Dislike the same stuff.
Because we believe that they’ll stop liking us if we don’t.
Because we believe that they’ll think less of us.
Because we believe that they’ll think we’re not as smart, as interesting, as funny as they thought we were.
Because we believe that they’ll cut us out of their lives.
And so we agree.
We force ourselves to see things the same way (and dismiss our own views).
We justify why they are right (and we are wrong).
We work hard to find beauty in things we don’t really like.
And to ditch the stuff we really love.
And so while we agree on the outside,
we feel constrained on the inside.
Constricted.
Trapped.
Drained.
Shackles on.
Because while we are working hard to fit in,
we are fitting out of ourselves.
Value your opinion.
It’s worth as much as theirs.
Even when they frown.
Even when they disagree.
Honor what you love and what you don’t.
Those are your keys to your fulfilling life.
Not theirs.
Share your view.
Do your thing.
Always respectfully.
Always with determination.
They’ve got their opinion. You’ve got yours.
They do their thing. You do yours.
They are them. You are you.
Both equally worthy.
So treat yourself accordingly.

I work with smart, dynamic and driven people that are ticking all the boxes of success, yet feeling as if they are living their life with the brakes on. I work with caring and generous people that are trying to be everything to everyone and forgetting themselves in the process. I work with savvy, fun and creative high achievers that want to reconnect with what they really want in life, instead of living out everyone else’s expectations and worrying they’re not good enough. Together, we dive in. Together, we dive deep. I offer a different perspective. I offer tools and concepts and a space to explore. You explore. You take action. You emerge. Bubbly. Sparkly. Infectiously inspiring. The way you’ve always been. You just didn’t realise it yet.

Nicely written!
What I’ll keep in mind: “do “your thing”, with determination! 🙂 🙂
“having your own opinion is important, even when others don’t agree”
Totally love: “Honor what you love and what you don’t”.
Thanks, Lenny!
